PATA: Supporting Childcare

We are thrilled to announce that PATA, the county’s largest voluntary sector support provider to early education and play, have recently completed their Foundation Level Healthy Workplace Award.

PATA is a membership organisation comprising groups from across the early education and play sector, and membership levels currently top 170 organisations. To support its members, PATA offers training, support and information, enabling them to deliver high-quality early education and play opportunities.

Over the course of their accreditation, PATA demonstrated a fantastic commitment to staff wellbeing. When speaking to team members, it was clear to see that the organisation lives and breathes a supportive, inclusive culture, in which individuals can thrive whilst leaning on colleagues for support when required.

Team members articulated that they felt supported, and recognised and that the working environment was “like a family”.

One aspect the workplaces team were particularly impressed with was the approach PATA takes regarding helping employees manage their workloads. It has been well documented that workload is a leading cause of workplace stress and, recognising this, PATA have taken a stance and highlighted to their staff that it is ok to say “no”, sometimes. This position has also been supported with specific training on the matter and is regularly pushed by members of the senior management team.

Similarly, PATA invests time and energy to adequately equip their managers to be able to support employees when the time comes, also providing them with a next step route of additional support mechanisms people can be signposted on to.

We’re thrilled to have PATA as a part of the ever-growing network of like-minded and visionary organisations from across Gloucestershire that are putting their employee’s wellbeing at the top of their priorities.
